Each piece is worked on individually by hand, following the shapes, highlights, volumes and characteristics of the image itself. The aim is not to cover the print, but to integrate the texture into the artwork and visually enhance specific areas with a finish reminiscent of brushstrokes and paint applied directly onto canvas.

What is Fine Art manual texturing?
The process consists of manually applying a transparent, dimensional medium over the print, working on selected areas of the image to create physical relief and different brushstroke directions.
Unlike conventional varnish, whose primary purpose is to protect and unify the surface, manual texturing also serves as a visual and tactile element.
The texture can follow different elements within the artwork, including:
- brushstrokes and marks;
- contours and volumes;
- hair and fabrics;
- backgrounds;
- highlighted areas;
- architectural or natural details;
- specific areas that should be emphasised.
As this is an artisanal process, each piece presents subtle variations inherent to hand-finishing. The direction, amount and distribution of the texturing medium are determined during the process according to the characteristics of each image.
A canvas print that changes with the light
Texture introduces something that a completely flat print cannot reproduce: real physical relief.
When light falls across the surface, the different heights and directions of the texture create subtle variations in highlights, shadows and volume.
As a result, the artwork can be perceived differently depending on the lighting conditions and the angle from which it is viewed.
From a distance, the overall image remains intact. As you move closer, the texture, brushstrokes and subtle surface relief gradually become visible.
Texturing tailored to each image
We do not apply an automatic or uniform texture across the entire surface. Before beginning, we study the image to determine where texture should be introduced and the most appropriate direction in which to work it.
The aim is for the texture to complement the image rather than compete with it. For this reason, we can adapt the level of intervention according to the desired final result.

Manual texturing and Fine Art varnish: they are not the same
Although both treatments are applied to the surface of the print, they serve different purposes.
Fine Art UV varnish creates a protective layer that helps preserve the surface against minor abrasions, environmental humidity and exposure to light.
Manual texturing, while also becoming part of the surface finish, has a primarily aesthetic purpose: it creates relief, brushstroke direction and depth.
Depending on the project, we can combine both processes to create a textured artwork protected with Fine Art UV varnish.
